I recently had work done on a 2012 Polaris Sportsman. The power steering wasn’t working and was diagnosed with a bad relay. Way cheaper than a used one, which was great. They also told me that the steering post/ bushings were worn out. We agreed to fix these 2 issues, plus do an oil change with oil and filter we supplied. Fast forward a few weeks, we were called that machine was ready for pick up, with a bill of just shy of $2000. Looking at the invoice, they replaced the shock bushings, brake pads, cleaned the rad, installed a new spark plug, changed front differential oil, changed transmission and rear differential oil, cleaned radiator and charged us for oil and filter even though we supplied them. (*They did not use ours) All of these parts and work was done WITHOUT our authorization. I called and discussed my concerns of why they didn’t call and discuss what they were doing and replacing. The service guy said it was all stuff that needed to be done, so he just took it upon himself to do it it! I asked if this was common practice to order parts and to do work WITHOUT authorization? He replied that since we saved so much money on NOT replacing the power steering motor, it would even everything out! I could not fathom what he had just said. I demanded they reimburse some of the bill on parts and labor, because I DID NOT AUTHORIZE/APPROVE these EXTRA PARTS. I explained that all they had to do is pick up the phone and ask for permission to do this EXTRA work. After a second phone call back to them, they reimbursed me $325 back. And made it quite clear we are NEVER to do business with them ever again! Not to worry - we won’t and neither will our many ATV friends.
